MEET HE XUN, THE NEW CSEE DEPUTY PARTY SECRETARY AND ASSOCIATE DEAN

Excellence in teaching, research and recruiting more top students top priorities


HE Xun is the new deputy party secretary and associate dean of College of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering (CSEE) in Hunan University. The faculty ranks among the Top 50 computer science departments in China, according to the respected Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU).

In the past week, ten career seminars were partnered with prestigious technology companies, including a ZTE recruiting event and a Huawei recruiting event.

“As college deputy party secretary, I’m fortunate to take the helm at a time when our college is recognized as one of the best in China and the world—with dedicated staff, inspiring teachers, and world-renowned researchers,” said HE.

Two of my priorities are to support student researching excellence so we continue to be a top-ranked computer science department, and to develop career programs that will improve employment rate in our field.”

Currently, students are eager to innovate, and to explore high-tech industry and entrepreneurship.  He has already realized that to compile information on career programs across China that have successfully drawn university students of both genders into technology-based career opportunities.

HNU College of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering offers one of the most comprehensive academic programs in China, covering topics as diverse as computer systems to graphics and biomedical image analysis to artificial intelligence, and algorithms and complexity theory.

The school maintains strong ties with industry, research organizations, and the community at large. Each year, about 20 CSEE alumni participate in career workshops and seminars with our current students.

“Building links to external organizations allows us to expand our offering of internship jobs, ensuring our students gain relevant skills and knowledge, and to conduct cutting-edge research that makes a difference in our economy, public health and safety, and the environment.”

HE has just started his term as deputy party secretary and associate dean, succeeding Mr. YANG (Yongfeng) who held the position for years and who is transferring to the College of Chinese Language and Literature in HNU.
