Collaborative Perception of Connected and Autonomous Vehicles for Smart Cities

报告摘要: Collaborative perception has emerged as a promising avenue to enhance sensing accuracy and reduce blind spots by leveraging data fusion from the views of multiple vehicles. However, critical challenges such as limited network capacity and domain shifts pose serious threats to the robustness and safety of Connected and Autonomous Driving (CADs). In this talk, the speaker will discuss how to fully utilize the information from multiple views and vehicular mobility through collaborative perception, and then introduce a priority-aware collaborative sensing framework and a novel domain generalization framework to address these critical issues in the collaborative perception system.


协作感知已成为一种有前途的途径,它利用来自多辆车的视角的数据融合来提高传感精度并减少盲点。然而,有限的网络容量和领域转移等关键挑战对联网和自动驾驶 (CAD) 的稳健性和安全性构成了严重威胁。在本次演讲中,演讲者将讨论如何通过协作感知充分利用来自多个视角和车辆移动的信息,然后介绍一个优先级感知的协作感知框架和一个新颖的领域泛化框架来解决协作感知系统中的这些关键问题。


报告人简介: Dr. Yuguang “Michael” Fang received an MS degree in Mathematics from Qufu Normal University, Shandong, China in 1987, a PhD degree in Systems, Control and Industrial Engineering from Case Western Reserve University in 1994, and a PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Systems from Boston University in 1997. He joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at University of Florida in 2000 as an assistant professor, then was promoted to associate professor in 2003, full professor in 2005, and distinguished professor in 2019, respectively. Since August 2022, he has been a Hong Kong Global STEM Scholar and the Chair Professor of Internet of Things with the Department of Computer Science at City University of Hong Kong.

Dr. Fang received many awards, including the US NSF CAREER Award, US ONR Young Investigator Award, 2018 IEEE Vehicular Technology Outstanding Service Award, IEEE Communications Society AHSN Technical Achievement Award (2019), CISTC Technical Recognition Award (2015), and WTC Recognition Award (2014). He served as the Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology (2013-2017) and IEEE Wireless Communications (2009-2012), and serves/served on several editorial boards of journals, including Proceedings of the IEEE (2018-present) and ACM Computing Surveys (2017-present). He served as the Technical Program Co-Chair of IEEE INFOCOM’2014. He has actively engaged with his professional community, serving as a Member-at-Large of the Board of Governors of IEEE Communications Society (2022-2024) and the Director of Magazines of IEEE Communications Society (2018-2019). He is a fellow of ACM, IEEE, and AAAS.  


方玉光博士于 1987 年获得山东省曲阜师范大学数学硕士学位,1994 年获得凯斯西储大学系统、控制与工业工程博士学位,1997 年获得波士顿大学电气与计算机系统博士学位。2000 年加入佛罗里达大学电气与计算机工程系担任助理教授,2003 年晋升为副教授,2005 年晋升为正教授,2019 年晋升为杰出教授。自 2022 年 8 月起,他担任香港全球 STEM 学者和香港城市大学计算机科学系物联网讲座教授。

方博士获得过许多奖项,包括美国NSF CAREER奖、美国ONR青年研究员奖、2018 IEEE车辆技术杰出服务奖、IEEE通信学会AHSN技术成就奖(2019)、CISTC技术认可奖(2015)、WTC认可奖(2014)。曾任IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology(2013-2017)和IEEE Wireless Communications(2009-2012)主编,担任数本期刊编委,包括Proceedings of the IEEE(2018-至今)和ACM Computing Surveys(2017-至今)。曾任IEEE INFOCOM’2014技术程序联合主席。他积极参与专业社区活动,担任 IEEE 通信学会理事会常务理事(2022-2024 年)和 IEEE 通信学会杂志总监(2018-2019 年)。他是 ACM、IEEE 和 AAAS 的fellow。
