Pushing the Limit of Mobile Sensing: Smart Healthcare in the Age of AIoT

报告摘要: Sensing is an effective means to connect the physical world and digital space. Exploring the intelligent sensing capability has drawn researcher’s great attention. It is quite excited to see in recent years, besides wearable sensing, people have also begun to explore the acoustic, wireless signal, light, and other ambient communication medium’s capability for sensing purpose.

In this talk, I will introduce some of our work related to how to leverage the wearables and the communication medium's sensing capability to enable smart healthcare applications,especially focus on home care scenario.


感知是连接物理世界和数字空间的有效手段。探索智能传感能力已经引起了研究者的极大关注。令人兴奋的是,近年来,除了可穿戴传感,人们还开始探索声学、无线信号、光和其他环境通信介质的传感能力。在这次演讲中,我将介绍我们的一些工作,这些工作涉及如何利用可穿戴设备和通信介质的感知能力来实现智能医疗应用,特别是关注家庭护理场景。


报告人简介: Dr. Qian Zhang joined the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) in September 2005. She is currently the Acting Head of the Division of Integrative Systems and Design, Tencent Professor of Engineering, and Chair Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. She also serves as the Director of the Microsoft Research Asia-HKUST Joint Lab, Co-Director of the Huawei-HKUST Innovation Lab, and Director of the HKUST Digital Life Research Center. Prior to this, she worked at Microsoft Research Asia starting in July 1999, where she served as the Research Manager of the Wireless and Networking Group. Dr. Zhang has published over 400 referenced papers in leading international journals and major conferences. She is the inventor of more than 50 international patents. Her current research interests include the Internet of Things (IoT), smart healthcare, mobile computing and sensing, wireless networks, and cybersecurity.

Dr. Zhang is a Fellow of IEEE and a Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Sciences (HKAES). She has received the TR100 (MIT Technology Review) World’s Top Young Innovator Award, the HLHL Innovation Award, the China Young Scientist Award, and the Second Class National Natural Science Award (as the third contributor). She has also received best paper awards at multiple international conferences. Dr. Zhang served as the Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing from 2020 to 2022. She is currently a member of the IEEE Infocom Steering Committee.


张黔博士于2005年9月加入香港科技大学,现任综合系统与设计学部署理主任,腾讯工程学教授兼计算机科学与工程系讲座教授。她还担任微软亚洲研究院-香港科大教育部联合实验室主任、华为-科大创新实验室联席主任、科大数字生活研究中心主任。在此之前,她从1999年7月起在微软亚洲研究院工作,担任无线和网络组的研究经理。张博士在国际领先期刊和重要会议上发表了400多篇参考论文。她是50多项国际专利的发明人。她目前的研究兴趣包括物联网(IoT)、智能健康、移动计算和传感、无线网络以及网络安全。

张黔博士IEEE会士(IEEE Fellow)和香港工程科学院院士(HKAES)。张博士曾获得麻省理工学院TR100(麻省理工科技评论)世界顶级青年创新者奖。她是何梁何利创新奖、中国青年科技奖、国家自然科学二等奖(第三贡献人)获得者。她在多个国际会议上获得最佳论文奖。

张博士于2020年至2022年担任IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing的主编(Editor-in-Chief)。她目前是IEEE Infocom指导委员会成员。
